Thesis Title
Understanding the prognosis and progression of soft tissue sarcoma in the dog

The aim of this PhD was to investigate soft tissue sarcoma biology in dogs to help identify tumours that may recur after surgery. Mr Bray found that  soft tissue sarcoma with a high immunostaining for vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) were 7 times more likely to recur. Mr Bray developed a predictive algorithm to determine which dogs would remain disease-free after surgery and discovered that treatment with thalidomide significantly improved post-surgery survival.
