I am always fascinated by the enormous potential offered by the vast array of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms that can be applied to dynamically changing environments.  My research revolves around building hybrid AI techniques for robot path-planning, meta-level reasoning, computer vision and machine learning.

Teaching and Supervision

Teaching Statement

The constant pursuit of new knowledge and the opportunity to share that knowledge is what brings excitement for me as an academic.  I find this continuing learning process truly rewarding and enriching as a person.  One of my roles is to try and demystify complex algorithms, so that students can learn them thoroughly and more easily.  I also see the teaching profession as a platform for inspiring minds to tackle real-world problems. 

Graduate Supervision Statement

Keeping at pace with the ever-changing technology is key to identifying what opportunities lie ahead to allow one to contribute to the scientific community.  Given any research area, students are expected to face a steep learning curve at the beginning and so careful guidance is important.  A problem may seem to be insurmountable, but no problem can withstand the attack of sustained thinking.  A post graduate research is a journey that must be carried out with grit and systematised work.  It’s a collaboration between me and the student.  With my research and supervision experience, any student who systematically strives hard to explore a realm of research will eventually attain success.
