Professor Jenny Poskitt has extensive experience nationally and internationally in educational assessment, spanning teaching, research, expert advice and input into Ministerial Committees, and professional bodies. She is President of the New Zealand Assessment Institute, Chair of NZQA's Technical Overview Group Assessment, NZ researcher on the International Educational Assessment Network, and education expert on the Royal New Zealand General Practitioners Academic Tahuhu. Sustained contributions to the NZ Ministry of Education policy, research and professional development include assessment reference groups, research evaluations and action research on projects like the Assess to Learn PLD, National Curriculum Exemplars, Leadership and Effectiveness Advisory Group), NZ Council of Educational Research's Educational Leadership Practices Advisory Group, and Teaching Council's Review of Teacher Appraisal, and Review of ITE graduating standards.  Professor Poskitt is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (qualified tertiary teacher), a Ƶ accredited doctoral mentor supervisor, and was awarded the College of Social Sciences and Humanities Research Supervisor Award in 2021, and the Ƶ Research Supervisor Award in 2022. She has supervised over 70 postgraduate masters' and doctoral research students' theses, chaired over 70 confirmation doctoral orals, convened more than 50 doctoral examinations for Ƶ, and examined multiple national and international masters' and doctoral research theses. Professor Poskitt has been a member of numerous tertiary degree programme reviews. Her research is published in scholarly and professional journals, books, reports and conference proceedings. Leadership and university service span formal roles such as Director of the Graduate School of Education, Associate Head of the Institute of Education, Director of College Projects (COHSS), and membership of multiple committees and boards such as Academic Programmes Committee, College Board. She has also contributed to and led assessment professional learning workshops in NZ schools, conferences, across Colleges at Ƶ, at the Ministry of Education, and internationally (e.g., South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) Board; University of the South Pacific), and represented NZ in an OECD study on assessment, and on an international reference group advising the Welsh Government on education. Professor Poskitt is also a reviewer on international academic journals related to assessment and professional learning. Finally, she has taught innumerable undergraduate and postgraduate students in courses on assessment, educational leadership, adolescent learning, and qualitative research.  

Professor Jenny Poskitt is an academic in the Institute of Education and COHSS PVC Office. Professor Poskitt began her career as a primary teacher, teaching in three schools.  Since being at Ƶ Jenny has developed teaching and research interests in assessment, professional learning, research methods, adolescent learning and engagement.  Professor Poskitt has led numerous nation-wide research and evaluation contracts, presented at NZ and international conferences and is a frequent speaker at professional conferences. She is a member of various educational sector, Ministry of Education and Government level advisory groups on educational policy and practice.
