Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Chair of Research in the School of Natural and Computational Sciences. My research areas include image and video processig, speech and natural language processing, machine learning and deep learning, data mining and big data. I have supervised more than 20 PhD students to completion. I have published over 150 papers.

I am an Associate Editor (or Editor Board member) for the jounals of IEEE Transactions on Emerging Topics in Computational Intelligence, Neurocomputing (Elsevier), Applied Soft Computing (Elsevier), Knowledge and Information Systems (Springer), Health Information Science and Systems (Springer), and Complex and Intelligent Systems (Springer).
