In addition to her teaching and research responsibilities, Dr. Junaid has been a Mentor for PhD students at the School of Management. She is also a member of the College Board of the Business School and sits on The Foundation Education Programmes Committee (FEPC). She has been a member of the school's Teaching and learning, Research, Bachelors of Business, and student liaison committees. 

Fatima runs a social media support group  "Pakistani women in Academia" which supports women's further education and research and aims to build a strong community of women academics in Pakistan. 

Dr Junaid specialises in area of Organisational behaviour & HR. Her work focuses on wellbeing and stress, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Mental health and Psychosocial risks at work. Her current research projects are on: migrant and refugee wellbeing; women exclusion and marginalisation; PTSD and its outcomes in the organisational context; and health and safety and Psychosocial risks in NZ in the wake of Covid-19. Fatima publishes in both academic journals and non-academic media. Prior to joining Massey Fatima has taught and worked as a consultant for more than a decade serving public and private sector entities.

Research Expertise

Research Interests

I am an interdisciplinary researcher interested in organisational behaviour and psychology. My areas of interest are Stress, Trauma and Anxiety, Wellbeing and mental health, and Psychosocial risks in the organisational context. My focus is on contextualising organisational support to best suit the needs of employees. My current projects are based on:

  • Management capability index;
  • Employee Wellbeing and Organisational Support;
  • Perceptions and attitudes towards Christchurch March 15th 2019 attack;
  • Terrorism, Job stress, and Employee behaviours;
  • Women and exclusion;
  • Migrants and Trauma.

Being a pragmatist, my projects are mostly mixed-methods, I feel comfortable working with quantitative and qualitative data sets.
